More Information

Whether you are looking to get out on the water for the first time or you are an experienced sailor, the Mount Batten Centre is a superb coastal venue to progress your skills. We offer a wide range of Royal Yachting Association (RYA) dinghy sailing courses for Juniors and Adults, including residential programmes for schools and private tuition for those wanting a 1:1 skills brush-up. For dates and prices on Adult Courses please scroll down to the bottom of the page for our dates calendar for our programme of RYA Level 1 and 2 courses.  For more experienced adult sailors we can provide Level 3 courses and advanced modules (Seamanship, Day Sailing, Sailing with Spinnakers) on a bespoke basis. Throughout the school summer holidays we run Learn to Sail week long programmes for young people following the RYA Youth sailing scheme from stages 1 to 4.

If you have never sailed before the adult RYA Level One is an a ideal place to start. You will learn the key concepts of sailing with an instructor onboard with you initially and by the end of the course you will have a sound knowledge of how to manoeuvre a dinghy under guidance safely. Upon successful course completion you will be issued with a certificate and a logbook, and you'll be on the first rung of the sailing qualifications ladder - you can now take your skills to any RYA centre, in the UK or abroad, to continue your sailing skills pathway!
