After over 13 years at the helm of the Mount Batten Watersports and Activities Centre, Alex King will be leaving the Centre in Spring next year.
In 2024 the Centre enters its 25th year of operations, and celebrates 10 years of charity status as the Mount Batten Centre Charity Trust, for which Alex led on to ensure the longevity of the Centre and to enable it to continue to serve the local community. With ambitious plans for the future, should the bid for the Plymouth Sound National Marine Park be successful, Alex’s decision to leave the Centre is based on personal reasons relating to health considerations and acknowledgement of the volume of work needed for the job going forwards.
To ensure as smooth a transition as possible Alex will provide cover via a part time, fixed term post (three days a week) from January and leave the Centre at the start of April. The Centre’s Board are discussing the role that Alex leaves and will advertise/update about appointments in due course.
Alex has been an inspiration to many people at the Centre and I am sure you will all join us in wishing him well for his future health and wellbeing.

Incumbent Chair of the Board
