We are currently recruiting for a Chef/Kitchen Supervisor

£14,500 - £17,000 per annum dependent on experience
Annualised hours averaging 39 per week

The Mount Batten Watersports and Activities Centre in Plymouth is one of the foremost Outdoor Education centres in the South West – the Centre has a reputation for excellence, professionalism and operates to the highest standards.

The Mount Batten Centre hospitality operation runs all year round and changes with the seasons. You will be working predominantly in the kitchen area and will be responsible for a small team. We offer a variety of different menus for the bar, conference guests, schools, residential guests and weddings and we regularly host large events and provide onsite outdoor catering.

The role of Chef/Kitchen Supervisor will involve ensuring the day to day operation of the kitchen runs smoothly, ensuring all food is produced to an exceptional standard, menus are kept up to date & varied and stock is stored & maintained in accordance with our operating procedures.

Working as part of a small team, we are looking for an individual with a ‘can do’ attitude and is willing to help in all operational aspects when required, this includes serving food, clearing and setting dining rooms.

Due to the seasonal nature of our operations, during the quieter winter months there will be occasions when you will be working on your own in the kitchen. As the role is subject to annualised hours there is an expectation that your hours of work will peak during the summer season but will average 39 hours per week over 12 months.

Part of the role will involve working closely with the Hospitality Manager & Duty Manager to help develop our Catering operations.

We are looking for an individual with the following attributes:
• Minimum of 2 years experience in all practical areas of a medium/large scale commercial catering environment.
• Experience of Menu Planning
• Knowledge of nutrition, allergy and special diets
• Experience at supervisory level
• Budget & Stock Control
• Experience of monitoring health and safety
• Food hygiene certificate (in date)
