The Mount Batten Watersports & Activities Centre were delighted to welcome children from Hooe Primary Academy to the Centre earlier this month.

The children enjoyed an educational visit to the Mount Batten Tower where they found out about the history of one of Plymouth’s oldest, and most recognisable landmarks, and enjoyed the panoramic views from the top of the Tower.

The Mount Batten Watersports & Activities Centre have been custodians of the Tower since September 2017 and welcome enquiries from local school and community groups who would like to include a visit into their term or programme of events for educational and historical interest visits.

The Mount Batten Tower is open to the public on a number of days throughout the year.

When the Tower is open to the public, a £2 entry fee per person is payable, with funds raised contributing to the ongoing management of the 17th Century Plymouth landmark. With a limit capacity of just 25 people at any one time the Centre team advise booking your time slot ahead of the event via the booking link which is activated for each open day date. Please note that due to the age and layout of the building, levels are uneven with steep, irregular steps to the top of the Tower and wheelchair access is not possible. Sensible footwear is required. Please also note that dogs are not permitted within the Tower.

The Mount Batten Tower is also licensed for civil wedding ceremonies, please contact Sarah Davis, Hospitality and Events Manager on 01752 404567 or email for further information.
