Our third Live at the MBC Comedy Night is back this month on Friday 29th June!

Join us as we welcome three comedians to the Centre: Sandi Smith, Chris Chopping and Ignacio Lopez!

Sandi Smith

Sandi Smith

Sandi is a West Country based comedian who has been performing for a year. In her first six months, she reached the semi final of Funny Women 2013 and the heats of the BBC New Comedy Awards. She's currently performing around the country, with tales, tips and observations from her forty-something years on earth.

Deceptively spacious, she must be seen to be appreciated.

"Sandi is a breath of fresh air to stand up comedy, shes very very funny and so good for someone so new to the circuit, see her now before you have to wait for returns to her future sell out shows!" Patrick Monahan

"Very good indeed. Great material and audiences love her." Nick Page

Chris Chopping

Chris started performing in 2011, and by now, his dry outlook and hilarious punchlines have secured him regular professional work on the live circuit.  His strong material and deadpan persona have led to a cult following.  Chris also gets a lot of bookings as an MC, proving himself to be a, "laconic host and quick witted raconteur" (South Wales Echo), and is also a regular guest on Jamie Owen's BBC Wales Radio Show. He recently filmed his TV debut for S4C's stand up showcase Gwerthu Allan filmed live at The Richard Burton Theatre (Broadcast date 05/01/17).

Chris is also behind the pathetic pick up artist Bret Michaels, dispensing hopeless advice for meeting girls. 'Bret Michaels will bring something unique to any gig. He is astute and very funny with sharp writing..' standupforcomedy.co.uk

"His writing is sharp as a tack, his delivery pinpoint accurate and his off-the-script banter is excellent. A Stand Up For Comedy favourite, we recently had an audience refuse to let him leave the stage!" standupforcomedy.co.uk

"With pace, timing and highbrow witticisms Chris can take audiences to the comedy check-out clocking up a comedy commission worthy of anyone you see on the telly today." Cardiff Comedy Festival

"Come warm yourself on this young man's comedy campfire; with his charming wit, this raconteur will leave you in a glow of his mirthfulness." Glee Club Cardiff

Ignacio Lopez

Spaniard/Welshman Ignacio Lopez has been performing stand-up in English for five years.

Splitting his time between Spain and the UK, he has become a much demanded opener, closer and MC, entertaining with his unique brand of sarcastic observations and witty lines, offering audiences a taste of what it's like to be the outsider and sometimes combining music and comedy, parodying famous songs to show cultural differences with hilarious results.

In 2011, Ignacio beat thousands of comedians to appear in the final 10 competing in ITV1's 'Show Me The Funny' in the UK. He also appeared on Spanish Television, IB3's 'Noches de Comedia' performing in Spanish and on children's TV show 'Tati's Hotel' which aired in the UK and Canada on The Disney Channel.

2012 was the year Ignacio hit the festivals and had successful runs at Machynlleth, Edinburgh and Brighton. He also performed a run of theatre shows with 'Comedy Sheep', a South Wales Comedy group. His success at the festivals led to a booking at the Camden Comedy Crawl alongside names such as Andrew Maxwell, Sean Hughes, Adam Bloom and Brendon Burns, whom he later supported at Neath Comedy Festival.

Recently Ignacio performed his solo show "Spain's Best Export" in Fratton Park, Portsmouth FC's ground, as part of a successful world record attempt for longest stand-up comedy show. Comedian and organiser, Joe Wells, singled out Ignacio's performance as his highlight of the show in The Guardian.

After appearing on SKY Showcase's 'The Welsh Show', Ignacio also took his solo show to Reading Fringe Festival, Cardiff Comedy Festival and Edinburgh Fringe Festival.

"Impressive... I was totally taken in." Alan Davies

"May actually have been a stroke of genius." Digital Spy

"Possessed the same sort of flair as the Spanish football team with a pitch perfect set." South Wales Echo

"Charming and funny." Reading Post
