This weekend (Saturday 14th and Sunday 15th September 2019) the Mount Batten Watersports and Activities Centre will welcome over 125 young sailors to the city to take part in the National Topper Series.
Sailors from across the country will be welcomed to the city to take part in the single-handed sailing series within Plymouth Sound. Topper 4.2s and Topper 5.3s will be taking part in a number of race series on Saturday and Sunday – these single-handed sailing dinghies are a fun, competitive race dinghy sailed by many.
Delivering the event in partnership with Plymouth Youth Sailing, the Mount Batten Watersports and Activities Centre has been welcoming large-scale sailing events such as National Topper Series to the city for a number of years. Sailors, their friends and families, and support teams, all visit the city and enjoy its unique location, environment and hospitality.
Alex King, Centre Director for the Mount Batten Watersports and Activities says: “We’re delighted to be welcoming the National Topper Series back to Plymouth. We are one of a small number of centres across the country that is able to facilitate these events. We’re privileged to live and work with such an amazing blue space such as Plymouth Sound which enables sailors of all abilities to enjoy, and be tested, when competing.”
