Throughout May we're on a mission to raise funds, via our first ever Crowdfunder campaign, to buy two specialist canoes, Bellboats, so that we can make sure that EVERYONE who wants to, can enjoy the water! We're so proud of the range of activities (both on water and land) that we're able to offer all of our customers here at the Mount Batten Watersports & Activities Centre BUT we know we can do more!
We regularly see here at the Centre the sheer enjoyment that children, and adults alike, with special educational needs, experience when we get them on the water in our specially adapted sailing boats, but we want to increase the range of activities that we can offer and this is why we're raising funds for two Bellboats.
We've made the decision to launch the Plymouth Paddle-Ability Crowdfunder campaign to raise funds to buy two Bellboats because these specialist canoes are very stable and allow for maximum participation (with or without support workers as appropriate) enabling us to open up the opportunity for EVERYONE to try, and enjoy, paddlesports.
We'll be honest, we've set ourselves a big target to raise in just a month, but we firmly believe that the cost of these two specialist pieces of equipment is very little in comparison to the learning, experiences, opportunities, fun and laughter on the water that these Bellboats will provide to all who get to use them over the coming years.
It's a big year for paddlesports as paracanoe makes it's debut at the Paralympics in Rio - we'd love to think that one day because of experiencing paddlesports in a safe and supportive environment here at the Centre in one of our specialist canoes that we set someone on the path to Paralympic paddlesport success in years to come - if you'd like to be a small part of that future success too, please do take a look at our Plymouth Paddle-Ability Crowdfunding campaign page for more information of how you can get involved.
