Here at the Mount Batten Watersports and Activities Centre, our aim is to encourage, support and educate young people by introducing them to the challenges of watersports and adventurous activities.

We are based in the outstanding waterfront city of Plymouth, Britain’s Ocean City, which offers a stunning backdrop of views towards Plymouth’s historic Barbican area, The Hoe, and across to Mount Edgcumbe.

For twenty years we have been welcoming thousands of students of all abilities, making sure each one has left with an experience of a lifetime and everlasting memories.

We specialise in providing bespoke services for your school all year round, and our committed team will work with you to ensure your trip will be safe, memorable, and provide the personal learning outcomes specific to your students’ needs.

For your students, it is about building stronger relationships, overcoming fears, and developing confidence, so it’s key that all of our activities are challenging and diverse whilst also being great fun!

After a day full of activities, students retreat to our onsite shared accommodation, ranging from waterfront ensuites to cabin style bunk rooms. Rest assured that all of the centre’s facilities are fully accessible and we can cater for most needs.

I just want to say thank you to you and all the amazing team at Mount Batten who gave our children (and us) a truly memorable experience. Every detail was thought of and we couldn’t have asked for better instructors and activities. Thank you for organising the weather too! Sam and John were particularly brilliant when we were climbing/ abseiling.

We cannot thank you and the amazing instructors enough for such an amazing week. The children all achieved so much and faced so many challenges – thanks to your wonderful, patient and kind instructors! Please do pass on our thanks!

The Mount Batten Centre had so much to offer, with comfortable sleeping rooms, excellent activities allowing all of the children to grow and try new things with top-quality instructors and tasty food served throughout the day. Thank you from all here at Penpol!

To the wonderful team at Mount Batten,

As we sit here, rain is pouring down outside, bags are under our eyes, we’re all slightly fractious from lack of sleep and wondering how we will get through the day but we all have new memories and experiences to remember and smile about.

Thank you so much for hosting us this week, it really has been a fabulous trip. Your centre and every member of the team have been so welcoming and willing to go above and beyond to make our stay as great as possible. Thank you for organising the walk through Plymouth and the ferry crossings and for being there each morning with ideas and plans to cope with the inclement weather. The children have had a fantastic time and are chatting (in between the yawns) about all the moments as we write our letters.

Please thank all the staff who worked with us, from the instructors (who were excellent in every way), to the kitchen staff (who accommodated our fussy eaters) to the front of house staff and Richard who drove our things to and from the station. Everyone was so positive and willing to help and the children really benefitted and developed in all the ways we’d hope on a school residential.

St Levans Primary School, June 2019

Our students returned from the Mount Batten Centre residentials full of stories of adventure and fun.  Even the most under-confident youngsters engaged fully due to the fantastic programme offered and the skill, nurture and genuine care of the centre staff. I would thoroughly recommend the centre to other schools as the learning and confidence building gained throughout the week was a real delight to witness!  Learning outside the classroom at its very best!

Visiting the Mount Batten Centre was the best school trip I have been on. From the initial booking enquiry to the day of the activity everything I needed was provided in a timely and personalised manner. An unparalleled location, a dedicated team of enthused instructors and first-class facilities enabled my students to grow as both individuals and as a team
